Nancy Elizabeth Tellum

Nancy Elizabeth Tellum

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Nancy Elizabeth Tellum (Fownes) 68 at the Palliative Care, Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Nov 19, 2018.
Born Dec 12, 1949 in what was the new Victoria County Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of the late John W. and Betty (MacDonald) Fownes.
Nancy attended school at Baddeck Academy, Mabou and Mark Business College. She belonged to Chris and Christopher Speaking and various church organizations. Nancy was a gentle soul with a kind and caring disposition. She very much enjoyed the simple things in life such as a visit from family and friends where you were always greeted with a friendly hello and her beautiful smile. She enjoyed trips to Washabuck, New Brunswick, around the Cabot Trail (with Sodi) and stopping to eat at The Dancing Goat was always a highlight. Nancy was an avid reader, curious to learn and was always happy receiving new books as well as sharing them with others. Despite many health issues Nancy endured during her life she never, complained but instead has a positive fun loving attitude that endeared her to other who knew her.
The family would like to thank everyone who helped Nancy on the journey of life, too many to mention individually, but you know who you are.
She is survived by bothers; Bernie (Charlotte), North Bay and Leo (Joan) Big Baddeck; sisters, Jacqueline MacDonald, Middle River and Maureen Zahner, Dartmouth.
Besides her parent’s Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Robert; brothers, Frankie, Donnie and his wife Judy; brothers-in-law, Fraser MacDonald and Paul Zahner.
Cremation has taken place, under the care and direction of MacAskill Funeral Home.
The Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov 23, 2018 at Knox Presbyterian Church, Grant Street, Baddeck with Rev. Brian MacLeod officiating, reception to follow in the church Hall. Burial will be in St. Andrews Cemetery, Baddeck Forks at a later date.
In lieu of flowers an anonymous act of kindness would bring a smile to Nancy’s face.
“We are not called by God to do extraordinary things, but to do ordinary things with extraordinary love” Jean Vanier.
