THIBAULT, George Eric – age 69, Springhaven, Yarmouth Co., passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at home. Born April 17, 1949 in Salmon River, he was a son of the late Eric and Prescille Thibault. George was a retired and well-respected high school teacher, having taught for 30 years at École Ste-Anne-du-Ruisseau and at Drumlin Heights School. Following retirement George also did substitute work at École secondaire de Par-en-Bas. Throughout his teaching career, he was also a driver’s education instructor, softball coach, organized hockey pools and was able to travel a great deal as one of the organizers of the annual school Europe trips. He will be remembered as a very sociable, kind and positive man who enjoyed a good cigar, a good book, an occasional drink and a guy who loved his newer model sports cars. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Annette Doucette-Thibault, as well as by his step-daughter, Marcia Cook, Yarmouth and grandson, Rowan Cook. Also surviving are his three sisters, Marilyn (Emile), Saulnierville; Marion (Paul), St-Martin and Patricia “Pat”, Yarmouth, along with several nieces and nephews. Visitation took place from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening with prayers at 8 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. A funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 5 from Saint Agnes Catholic Church, Quinan, Father Albéni d’Entremont officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Donations in memory of George may be made to the St. Agnes Parish Cemetery Fund or to the Quinan & District Volunteer Fire Department.
