On Dec. 6, 2018, Gordon ‘Spooky’ Campbell, 88, was called to join his true love Ida. He died peacefully surrounded by family and friends at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Westmount, he was the son of the late Roy and Levita Mae Campbell.
Spooky was known for his love of family, his quick wit, and his sense of humour. When he was younger he had a passion for fishing, golf and music. He played a variety of instruments such as, the mandolin, banjo and the drums. Also, he had a great love for hockey, specifically the Toronto Maple Leafs. He found the love of his life and they were married for 53 years, raising five children together in Westmount.
Spooky was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association and he retired from Fred Pierce Limited, after 35 years. He will be greatly missed by everyone who loved him.
He is survived by daughters, Donna (Gerald) Gilmore, Charlene (Darren) Bauer, Denise (Murdock) Rogers; sons, Clary (Rena) Campbell, Jamie (Dionne) Campbell; grandchildren, Troy, Desneiges, Katelyn, James, Cooper, Cale, Max, Bryce; great-grandchildren, Kallie, Remy and Harley. He is also survived by his sister, Phyllis Schmidt; brothers, Doug, Bruce, and Ross Campbell.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Ida Campbell.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11 at T. W. Curry Parkview Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. with Fr. Albert Maroun officiating.
