Frances (MacLeod) O’Brien

Frances O’Brien, age 82, passed away peacefully in the Au Cala Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on December 7, 2018. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Susan (Powell) MacLeod.
In her younger years Frances was an active member of CWL Holy Rosary Parish in Westmount. She was a wonderful homemaker and mother.
She is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline (Scott) Burton, Sydney, Debbie (Tom), Saint John, NB, Brenda (David) Wall, Sydney, Erin, ON, Susan, New Hampshire, Joanne (Mike), ON; sons, Bernie, Ottawa, Shaun (Ellen), Sydney Mines; sister, Florence MacLeod, Wilmont; brother, Ronald, ON.
Frances was predeceased by her husband, Jack, in 2015, and her son, David, in 1995; sisters, Mary, Pauline and Jessie; brothers, Jimmy, Hughie, Fraser, Jack, Donald, John and Duncan.
Nana will be missed by her 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 13 at Holy Rosary Church, Westmount, Fr. Doug Murphy officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
Donations in memory may be made to Hospice Palliative Care of Cape Breton or a charity of choice.
