Elizabeth 'Ann' LeBlanc

Elizabeth 'Ann' LeBlanc

Lieu de décès : North Sydney, Nouvelle Ecosse
Date de décès : 8 décembre 2018

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Elizabeth “Ann” LeBlanc, age 65, on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at the Northside General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Bras d’Or, she was the daughter of the late Sam Gaum and Theresa (MacNeil) Newman.
Ann was a stay at home mom for many years, caring for her children. After the death of her husband Kenny, she returned to school in her early fifties and graduated as a residential care worker which she was very proud of. She was employed with My Cape Breton Home for Seniors until her retirement in 2017.
Ann was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and celebrating holidays with family, Christmas being her favorite. She enjoyed her coffee dates whether it be at her kitchen table or Tim Hortons, and she loved keeping up on her favorite television shows.
Ann is survived by her three daughters, Stella Robinson (Rob Smith) and Shauna Robinson, both of North Sydney, Stephanie LeBlanc (Joshua Jackson), Sydney Mines; by her four grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jordon, Tyler, Josh; three sisters, Dena Newman, Patricia (Gus) Maclean, both of Sydney, Kimberly (Darren) Fewer, Ft. McMurray; three brothers, Russell Newman (Cathy MacDonald), Arthur Newman, both of North Sydney and Barry (Marlene) MacNeil, Sydney; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving are Ann’s closest friends, Helene Finlayson, Susan Chisholm and her long-time friend, Gary Walker.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband, Kenny LeBlanc; her aunt, Joan O’Donnell of Dartmouth, and her niece, Melissa MacNeil.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, at St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Stephen Mills officiating. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the An Cala unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, family doctor John Kirkpatrick, palliative care team doctor Peter Poulos and nurse Susan Mackenzie, and the nurses on floor 2 west at the Northside General Hospital.
“Mothers hold their children’s hands for a short while, but their hearts forever.”
Memorial donations may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre.
Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com.
