Sam Howlett age 75, passed peacefully away in the comfort of his own home in Petty Harbour as he requested, after a long struggle with emphysema and cancer, in the presence of his immediate family. Predeceased by his son, David (2015), his parents Sam and Mary Howlett, brothers Jack and William Howlett, sister Lydia Berman, sister-in-law Mammie Howlett, brothers-in-law Bill Duke, Vince Mahon and Bernard Berman. Leaving to mourn his devoted and loving Wife Mary of 50 years, son Roger (Wanda); daughters, Julia Lynn (Todd) and Sherry; daughter-in-law Tracey; six precious grandchildren which he adored, Travis, Jordan, Christopher, Zachary, Rachel and Vanessa; sisters, Mary Duke and Jennie Mahon; brothers-in-law Pat (Madeline) and Jim (Thelma); sisters-in-law, Catherine (Pat), Carmelita, Agatha (Clifford), Edwina (Pedro), Maureen (Bob); Close Nephew and friend Douglas (Margaret) and special niece Jeannette (Wayne), special friends, Linda and Randy and Robert and Patsy, numerous other loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. Special thanks to his dedicated and caring community health nurse, Kelly Ralph.
Cremation has taken place according to his wishes. Visitation to take place at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road, St. John's on Monday, December 17 from 2-6 pm. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, December 18 from St. Joseph’s Church, Petty Harbour at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
