Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Friday December 21, 2018 at the age 85 years. Predeceased by her husband Roy Penney, parents Frank and Florence Rickert and parents-in-law George and Stella Penney, sister Loretta (Jim) Linthorne, brothers: Doug (Florence) Rickert and Fred Rickert and brother-in-law George Murphy. Leaving to mourn with beautiful memories sisters: Geraldine DeRose (USA) and Irene Murphy; brothers: Angus (Helen) and David (Dianne); sisters-in-law: Florence Breen, Hazel Rickert and Jean Evely (John), numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Joan resided in the Goulds most of her life where she owned and operated “Joan’s Convenience” for many years. For the past nine years she resided at Meadow Creek Retirement Home. Special thanks to the staff and card playing friends at Meadow Creek as well as the staff of 4NA Health Sciences Centre. Donations in Joan’s memory may be made to the Janeway Children’s Hospital. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Sunday, December 23 from 12pm-9pm. Funeral service will be held at Barrett’s Chapel on Monday, December 24 at 1 pm.
