Wanda Marie Tighe
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of a most gracious, compassionate woman, on Sunday, January 6, 2019.
Full of love and laughter, she was a lifelong friend, daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She fought a courageous battle with metastasized gastric cancer with absolute positivity and love in her heart. Born in PEI, she is the daughter of Magdalene and the late William Powers.
She had a passion for health and fitness, with an amazing family of friends at the YMCA gym of Cape Breton, as well as G-Fit. Wanda was an avid supporter of many causes, spending much of her free time volunteering. Children’s Wish Foundation and Run for The Cure were especially close to her heart.
She is survived by her mother, Magdalene; husband, Gerald; daughter, Brandy (Kenneth); son, Jeremy (Colin); cherished grandson, Hadley; sister, Charlene; beloved nephews, Dawson and Jeric; niece, Jaden, and a close circle of friends.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation for Wanda will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Funeral Mass will take place the following day Fri. Jan 11, at 10 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Parish, Whitney Pier with FR. Paul Murphy officiating.
