It is with great sadness we write of Tom's passing. His wit and personal brand of joie de vivre will be missed by children Michael (David), Heather, and Collin (Emma), grandchildren Charlotte and Sarah, his surviving brothers and sisters: Bernie, Rose, Céleste, Claudette, Annette, Vince, Andrew and Alvin, and by many extended family members, friends and work colleagues. He was predeceased by his parents, Charlie Joe Gallant and Hélène Desveaux, and sisters Margaret Samson and Pauline Boudreau. Tom grew up in New Waterford, Cape Breton. He lead an interesting life, initially working as a minerals geologist in Ontario, the Canadian North, the BC Interior and Mexico. After marrying and having three children, he worked in Calgary in real estate and later as a financial advisor, specializing in mining and resource exploration opportunities. Tom was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University and a member of the Ranchmen's Club of Calgary. He was committed to his family and cared for people and his community in quiet ways. There was no funeral at his request, but a tribute celebration to reflect on his life will follow in spring, 2019. If you wish to remember Tom, please make a donation to a school or lunch program in your community.
