Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 14, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with Huntington’s Disease. Predeceased by his parents Gordon Janes and Margaret Janes, his sister Pamela Squires, his mother and father-in-law Mary and Robert Hancock and dear friend and brother-in-law Douglas Hancock. Leaving with treasured memories his loving and devoted wife Marion (Hancock), daughter Cynthia (Shawn Seward) and son Robert (Denyse); his treasured granddaughters: Robin and Rebecca Seward and Kelli and Sunita Janes; sisters-in-law: Helen Ryan (Jim) and Margaret Hancock; brother-in-law, Fred Hancock (Anne); also many nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends. Special thanks to family and dear friends for their support during this difficult time. The family expresses its sincere gratitude to Dr. Alan Goodridge and his staff, and also for the professional and tender care shown to Ian at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home by the staff of 2 East, especially to Mary, Colleen and Travis, who were with us as Ian completed his final journey. Cremation has taken place. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, from 2-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 17. Funeral service will take place on Friday, January 18th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from the Carnell Memorial Chapel. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road.
