It is with great sadness that the family of Gertrude (Trudy) Dalton, age 101, announce her peaceful passing in the presence of those she loved on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. Predeceased by her husband Jack. Gertrude leaves to mourn her loving sons John (Louise Noseworthy), Martin (Mabel Jay) and Robert (Elizabeth). Gertrude was fondly known as “The Great Gam” and “Nana” by her treasured grandchildren Keith Dalton (Charlene), Kelli Dalton, Ashleigh Dalton (Gabe Sawhney), Jill Dalton (John Mardlin), Catherine Kavanagh (Lee Hedd) and Brad Dalton. Also lovingly remembering Gertrude are her great-grandchildren Natalie, Sam, Madeleine, Reese, Nate, Saskia and Leona. Others holding on to indelible memories of Gertrude are her extended family, the very special Laura Dalton, Melissa Dalton, Anne Noonan, Patsy and Gary Roberts and Doreen Roberts. Her life-long friends the Godden Family and Anne Dobbin. Gertrude’s very dear friends and neighbours Paul and Carolyn Morgan, David and Perri Brazill, Shannon McCarter, Ian McCarter, the Vaughn family and a large circle of family and friends. The family would like to extend warmest thanks to Loralee Wettlaufer and staff, Dr. Andrea Singleton, nurses and LPNs at Cambridge Estates and the doctors, nurses, LPNs and staff at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home for their care and compassion. Heartfelt thanks to Moya Kavanagh and Claudine Horan who along with being very dear friends comforted Gertrude in her final hours. May the happy moments you shared with ‘The Great Gam’, filled with love and laughter … live on in your hearts forever. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Caul’s Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road. The family will be receiving visitors on Thursday, January 17th, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service to take place on Friday, January 18th, 2019 at 11 a.m from Caul's Chapel. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Topsail Road. Flowers gratefully accepted or in lieu, donations may be made in Gertrude’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
