The death occurred peacefully on Sunday, January 20, 2019, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital of Cornelius Schellen of Hermitage, age 92 years. Beloved husband of 68 years of Cornelia "Cora" Schellen (VanVught) and loving father of Geraldine MacDougall (Dan), Andy Schellen (Judy), JoAnne Redmond (Bill), Cathy Conohan (Leroy), Garnet Schellen (Sheryl), Karen Roche (Leonard), and Dalie Schellen (Doug Pollett). Cherished Opa to 15 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren. He will be missed by his brothers - Francis Schellen, New Perth, P.E.I. and Arnold Schellen, Holland and sister - Dean Triest, Holland. He was predeceased by his parents Marinus and Gerdina (nee Klyn) Schellen, 5 brothers and 3 sisters in Holland and Grandson Michael Schellen. Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, 2 Hollis Ave., Stratford for visitation Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joachim's Church, Vernon River, on Friday, January 25, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place later at St. Joachim's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Joachim's Cemetery or Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Completion of funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hillsboro Funeral Home.
