It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Brenda Marie MacNeil, 57, of New Victoria on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Malcolm and Margaret (MacKinnon) MacNeil.
Brenda was a cook with the Canadian Military for over 20 years. She was an avid animal lover who was passionate in her pursuit to rescue and assist with feral cats and stray dogs.
Surviving are her brothers, Danny (Eunice) MacNeil, Sydney River, Malcolm (Nina) MacNeil, Whitney Pier, Francis (Cheryl) MacNeil, New Victoria; sister, Louise (Reggie) Jewer, New Victoria; several nieces and nephews; best friend, Lana Wadman.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford.
A celebration of Brenda's life will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the Knights of Columbus Hall, Plummer Avenue, New Waterford.
Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
