Edward "Ed" Pothier

Lieu de décès : Wedgeport
Date de décès : 23 janvier 2019

POTHIER, Edward Timothy - 58 of Wedgeport. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Edward Pothier. Ed passed away peacefully at home, on the morning of January 23rd with his family by his side. Ed was the son of the late Edward Pothier and Florence Richard. Ed was happiest when he was on the water, fishing or going to the islands with his family; salt water ran through his veins. He started learning the ropes of fishing at the young age of 12 and he had been going ever since. Though he mainly lobster fished, over the years he did most types of fishing at one time or another. For a couple of summers, he did some rock weeding in the States. In his earlier years he even did some highway construction work and worked at a steel mill in Connecticut with his brother. In addition to his love for fishing, he loved his family and was always so proud of them. He was a hardworking, dedicated family man who would do anything for anyone in need. Ed was so strong, and though his unjust two-year disease did eventually take him, it was not without a fight. With extraordinary strength and great dignity, he battled until the very end with everything he had. The community of Wedgeport will remember him for his bright personality. He will be greatly missed by many. Ed was predeceased by his mother Florence Richard Pothier (1968) and his father Edward Pothier (2018). Ed will be survived in memory by his wife, Tara Sollows-Pothier; his sons Brae (Amy) Pothier, Brody (Raquelle) Pothier; his daughter Brooke (Matt) Pothier, his mother-in-law (Mom) Verna Sollows; his brothers Obie (Linda) Pothier, Steve Pothier, Dave (Shaunna) Pothier and Dennis (Cynthia) Pothier, as well as all of his cousins, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. The family would like to express their sincerest thanks to the community, family and friends for their overwhelming support throughout his journey. Secondly, a sincere thanks to every blood donor for their precious gifts of life. We would also like to send our deepest gratitude to the VON nurses, the emergency room nurses at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital and the palliative care team. The care that he received was exceptional as the team members went above and beyond to truly make the difference in his journey. Each and every one of you have left huge imprints on our hearts and we will be eternally grateful for your generosity and kindness. The funeral was held at St. Michel’s Church in Wedgeport on Monday, January 28th, 2019 at 10:30am, Deacon Bruce Hubbard officiated. A reception followed at the Wedgeport Legion. Donations in memory of Ed may be made to the Gilles Boudreau and Friends Cancer Help Fund or to the Canadian Hemophilia Society. Arrangements were entrusted to H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth, where you can sign the online guestbook or leave messages of condolence for the family by visiting www.huskilson.net
