Passed with dignity on Jan. 31, 2019, at his residence, Thomas Gerald (Tom) Murphy. A friend to all, with a keen wit and sense of humour, Tom will be missed. Leaving to mourn, his wife Kathy (nee Chan); step-son, Joshua Marshall; mother Theresa (nee Byrne), Paradise, NL (formerly Curling, NL); brothers and sisters, Jerry (Florida), Bass River, NS; David (Brenda), Calgary, AB; Ellen Penney (John), Labrador City, NL; Ann Marie Riviere (Yvon), Three Mile Plains, NS; Denis (Lynnette), Carbonear, NL; Sheila Lindsay (Garth), Sarnia, Ont; Catherine Moores (Neil), St. John’s, NL; Danny (Sandra), Ottawa, Ont; John, Labrador City, NL; Robert (Mireille), Dieppe, NB; sisters-in-law, Debbie Murphy, St. John’s, NL; Marie Murphy, Curling, NL; Marie-Christine Dionne, Hull, Que; aunt Rita MacGregor (Gary), Glace Bay, NS; uncles, Bernard Byrne (Mary), Hamilton, Ont; and Joe Byrne (Marie), Curling, NL, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Dennis (2007) and brothers, Tony (2014) and Chris (2013). As per Tom’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There is no visitation or service. There will be a celebration of Tom’s life in the Spring at his residence. Inurnment will take place in the future, in Corner Brook, NL. Donations in Tom’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice.
