It is with great sadness that we, the family of Madonna Pennell, age 79 announce her sudden and peaceful passing February 7, 2019. She is pre-deceased by her husband James Pennell whom she loved beyond measure, her parents Clayton and Sylvia Banfield, brother Russell Banfield, and brothers in law, Clem, John and Ken. She leaves to mourn her 9 children; Donnie, Kevin (Gwen), Roland (Jacki), Melvin (Kate), Wade (Michelle), Rodney (Wendy), Fabian (Leona), Karen (Perry), Jeffrey (Dawn), her 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her 8 brothers and sisters; Ank (Glenda), Hilda, Marion (Smokey), Theresa (Wayne), Winnie, Shirley (Gord), Howard (Joan), Kevin (Daphne) and Russell’s wife Louise, as well as their children and grandchildren. Mom spent most of her life in Trepassey and loved the community and the friends she made there. She lived for her family and died expressing her pride in her children and her acceptance of death as the natural ending of a life well-lived. We are confident that she is dancing with dad tonight. We would like to thank the staff and residents of St.Luke’s Home who were so loving and kind to our mother. She lived her life with dignity and grace, and she left the world with dignity and grace. Visitation at Fahey’s Funeral Home Trepassey on Saturday, February 9 from 2:00 to 9:00 pm, and Sunday, February 10 from 2-9 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Holy Redeemer Parish Church on Monday February 11 at 11am. Interment to follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or a donation in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
