The death occurred peacefully at the Mount Continuing Care Community on Thursday February 7th of Helen C. (MacDonald) Turner, formerly of Indian River. She was in her 91st year. Helen was pre-deceased by her husband Thomas Turner and leaves to mourn her children David, Calgary, Anne (Bill Cameron) Stratford, Paula (Ron Logan) Calgary, Robert (Heather Gallant) Calgary, Joan (Phillip Adams) Charlottetown, Mary (James Pound) Hunter River, Tommy (Janet Wallace) Calgary and special daughter Jacqueline MacKay. Helen is survived by her only sibling Patricia Bradley (Louis – deceased) and pre-deceased by her parents Alban and Mary (Connick) MacDonald. A loving and devoted grandmother to Rodney (Autumn Getson) Evans, Sherri-Lynn Evans, Melissa Adams (Mike MacDonald), Mark Adams, and Mitchell (Danielle Thompson) Adams, Melanie Pound (Brian Cochrane), Raeona Pound (Mitch MacLeod), Monique Pound, Katelyn Jacobson (Tyler Leslie), Brandon Turner, and her thirteen great-grandchildren. Helen is survived by her sisters-in-law Gertrude Mulligan, Noreen McKenna and Geraldine Belanger and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Pre-deceased by her brothers and sisters in law Eleanor Doucette, Francis Gaudet, Joan Howe, Mary Noonan, Rosa Reid, Mona, Andy and Jim Turner. Born in Glenfinnan Helen taught school in numerous parts of the Island for over thirty years. She was heavily involved with her church where she was organist for many years, a past provincial president and life-time member of the CWL. She gave of her time and talents to various organizations including the Ladies Auxiliary, Scottish Historical Society, teaching English to adults, Women’s Institute, and the Right to Life Association. She loved music, was an avid gardener and world traveler as well as an accomplished artist. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Mount Continuing Care Community and the Sisters of St. Martha for their dedicated care and generous support while Helen was a resident. Forwarded from the Davison Funeral Home Kensington to The Mount Continuing Care Community, 141 Mt. Edward Road, Charlottetown for visitation on Tuesday from 1:30 - 3 p.m. followed by visitation at the Davison Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at St. Mary’s Holy Family Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Indian River. If so desired contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Prince Edward Island. www.davisonfh.com Members of St. Mary’s Holy Family CWL will hold a prayer service at the funeral home Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m., immediately following members of the Ladies Auxiliary Br. # 9 Royal Canadian Legion Kensington will hold a service.
