Maurice Joseph Walsh

Maurice Walsh passed away peacefully at his home at Lazy Creek Ranch in High River, Alberta, in the company of his beloved wife, Gloria, on February 9, 2019. Born in Watervale, PEI on December 1, 1949, Maurice studied engineering at the University of PEI and the Nova Scotia Technical College. After graduating as a Civil Engineer in 1977, Maurice moved to Alberta where he established several successful businesses including Alpine Engineering, Big Horne Cranes and Lazy Creek Ranch. Maurice was known for his story telling, his gregarious personality and sense of humor. He was well known for his philanthropy, supporting many local and international humanitarian causes. Maurice is survived by his wife Gloria, his son Michael (Nichole), daughter Victoria and step-daughters Chasidy (Matthew) Kramer and Stacey McCormick. He is also survived by brothers Vincent (Josie), Leo (Joan) and Frank (Loren Falkenberg) and sisters Blanche (Eddie) McIver and Maureen (Tom) Lawless and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Chester and Anne, sister Lois, nephew Joseph Chester and infant niece Angelina Marie. A funeral mass will be held at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, High River, Alberta on Friday, February 22 at 1 p.m. A celebration of life reception will follow at the Highwood Golf and Country Club, 400 7th Street NW, High River. No visitation at personal request. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Mustard Seed, 102-11th Avenue S.E., Calgary, T2G 0X5 are gratefully acknowledged.
