Baird, John Russell - 69, Little River, passed away suddenly at home Saturday, January 19, 2019. Born in Amherst, he was a son of Mary (MacEachern) Baird and the late Kempton Baird. John worked as an accountant, farmer, and woodsman. Besides his mother, Mary, he is survived by; sons, Jevon (Marlene) Baird, Amherst; James (Laura Lee) Baird, Sussex; Jerry (Beverley) Rushton, New Minas; daughter, Angela DeWitt, Little River; sisters, Beth Baird, Amherst; Carolyn Colwell, Springhill; grandchildren, Shantel, Maranda, Naomi, Micah, Moriah, Matthew, Ashley, Bret, Curt; several nieces and nephews; and close friend and ex-wife Marilyn Black. John was predeceased by his wife Mary Gogan-Baird; father Kempton; brother Peter; and infant daughter Serena. Arrangements were entrusted to MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home (902-447-2930). A funeral service and reception were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 24 at the Little River Baptist Church, 5404 Hwy 204 (Little River Rd), Oxford, Nova Scotia (902-447-3225).
