It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Wayne Alan MacDonald, on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Charles and Grace (Gwynn) MacDonald.
From a very young age, Wayne was a spirited entrepreneur and anyone who knew him recognized his love of putting “the deal” together. He worked in some segment of the food industry his whole life, all the while dabbling in real estate. His last business purchase, Classic Fine Foods, brought him back to Cape Breton in 2009, where he and his wife settled in for retirement.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Patricia “Trish” (Woodward); daughter, Kelly (Collin Midwood) MacDonald, Lake Country, BC; sisters, Sandra (Maurice) Curtis, Aspy Bay and Jacklyn (Robert Black) MacDonald, Sydney; brother, Bruce (Penny), Sydney; grandchildren, Aiden, Denlin and Jorynn.
Funeral service will take place at the United Protestant Church of Sydney River on Sunday, March 3, 2019, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Dana Feltmate officiating. Reception to follow immediately after the service. Interment in Aspy Bay United Church Cemetery at a later date.
Thank you to the nurses and volunteers in the An Cala Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for wearing your hearts on your sleeve and truly being there for us.
