Ian B.  Webster

1924 - 2019
Ian Brenton Webster, resident of Monarch Hall, Riverview, N.B., passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital, Saturday, March 2nd, 2019 surrounded by family. Ian was 95 years old; he was born February 29th, 1924 in Norboro, Prince Edward Island. He was the son of the late Ena (Douglas) and Alonzo Webster. He will be lovingly remembered by his 3 daughters; Debra of Charlottetown, PEI, Marlene (Terry) of Ottawa, Ont. and Karla of Riverview, NB, he will also be missed by his grandchildren Matthew of Calgary, AB, Jason (Christina) of Nelson, B.C. and Ella of Riverview, N.B. as well as great grandchildren Maci, Finn and Josie, sisters: Jean Small and Ena Birch and a brother, Lonnie Webster (Sally). Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife of 67 years Edith (2014) and their son Blair (1972), sisters; Elva Elliott, Marjorie Howard and brother, Douglas Webster. The majority of his career was spent in the insurance industry and he retired from Southeastern Mutual in 1989. He was an active member of St. Paul’s United Church and had served in various roles. He and Edith were Charter Members of Park Royal United in Charlottetown, PEI. He strongly believed it was important to give back to his community. For many years he volunteered for Albert County Christmas Aid and at West Riverview School, receiving awards for such work. He was a Lifetime member of the Lions Club, a charter member of the Parkdale Lions (1960) on PEI and then joined the Riverview Lions in 1964. In retirement, Ian enjoyed golfing, square dancing and round dancing. They danced with Charlie’s Angels Round Dancers and Hoban’s Heroes Square dancing group. Dancing was a joy that took Edith and Ian across the country and various parts of the world. The family would like to thank Dr. Power, Dr McAvinue and the wonderful staff on 3400 at The Moncton Hospital for the exceptional care our dad received. Your kindness and compassion were so appreciated. Ian is resting at Cobb’s Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007). The family will be receiving friends and relatives Wednesday, March 6th from 2-4pm and 6 – 8pm, the Riverview Lions Club will hold a memorial service at 5:45 pm from the funeral home. Interment will take place at People’s Cemetery, Summerside, PEI at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ian can be made to The Friends of the Moncton Hospital, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or St. Paul’s United Church.
