SHAFFNER, Viola Grace “Vie”, At 100 years of age, it is with overwhelming grief and heartbreaking sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Viola Grace Shaffner at her home in Lawrencetown, Annapolis Co. on March 13, 2019. Born September 22, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Clara (Webster) Daniels, growing up in Middleton and later, after her marriage, in Lawrencetown. Vie admired her friends and they in turn, had great admiration for her. Vie had no children of her own, but she was a second Mom to many and was always there when needed. Sewing was a passion for Vie, as was knitting, baking and gardening or any other endeavour she might take on, whether it was volunteering for organizations, her bridge club of many years or entertaining family and friends. She will be missed and remembered for the passionate, caring and giving person she was. Vie is survived by her nieces, Cauleen, Barbara, Judy, Janie and Valerie; and her nephews, Ronald “Bud” and Robert, along with their extended families of at least five generations. Besides her parents, Vie was predeceased by her husband, Ronald; sister, Bessie (Guy) Young and their daughter Lois Ann Jefferson; sister, Ethel (Kenneth) MacKenzie. Family members would like to extend a sincere thank you to Senior Home Care by Angels in assisting Vie in her home following her falling accident. In keeping with Vie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service took place at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2019 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., 902-825-3448, with Rev. Patty Beals officiating. A reception for family and friends followed the service in the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown, at a later date.
