Giddings, John Percy
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Percy Giddings on March 24, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born in Montague, PE on September 24, 1945 to the late Patrick and Mary (MacCormack) Giddings-Kennedy and was the loving husband to Jean (Campbell) Giddings.

John worked for many years at the Bank of Nova Scotia in varying roles before retiring as bank manager in 1996. After that he became a small business owner, opening and operating an M&M Meat Shop in West Saint John. A diehard Detroit Red Wings fan, John loved his hockey and could always be found at the community rinks cheering on his grandchildren. He also liked gardening and curling and was an avid golfer. John was a giving and good-natured man with an easy-going disposition that could put anyone at ease. He had a quick wit and a dry sense of humour that could sometimes catch you by surprise. He was vibrant and young at heart even into his final days, still keeping those around him laughing in the face of long odds while in the hospital. His love and devotion to his grandchildren knew no bounds, as he never missed a milestone in their lives. Taken far too soon, he will be sadly missed.

In addition to his wife, Jean, John is survived by his daughters; Patti (Peter) Ross and Cindy Marcon, sons; Jack (Alison) and Gary (Sandy), 9 grandchildren; Alec, Joseph, Brett, Elizabeth, Andrew, Parker, Thomas, Nora and Eli, brothers; Jim (Marcia) and Gerard (Carol), sister Genevieve, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Frank and Father Patrick, step father George Kennedy, brother-in-law Eugene and sisters-in-law, Nora, Lorraine and Myrna.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will be held on Thursday from 6-8pm. A funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, March 29, 2019 at 11am. For those who wish, memorial donations made in John’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family.
