On March 31, 2019, Bern passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 77 years. He was predeceased by his wife Gertie; parents Daniel and Mary; parents-in-law Fred and Dorothy Barrett; brothers, Gerard, Cecil, Ned and Frank; sisters, Margaret Kelly, Beth Smith and Rose O’Neill. Bern will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Lori (Gary Pitcher); grandsons, Lucas and Colby; sisters Josephine Griffiths, Jean (Paul) Hebert, Marion Bruce; brothers, Harold (Kitty), Reg (Pegi); sister-in-law Eliza Matchett (Reg); brothers-in-law Ray O’Neill, Nath Barrett (Marguerite), Fred Barrett (Glenda), Max Barrett (Linda), Eric Barrett; a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. A special thank you to the nurses, doctors and staff at the Placentia Health Centre, Carbonear Hospital and Health Sciences Centre for their kindness, compassion and support to the family.
