Evelyn MacAdam
It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Evelyn MacAdam at the Cape Breton Regional hospital on Monday, April 1, 2019, just one day shy of her 79th birthday.
Born in Leitches Creek, Evelyn was the daughter of the late William and Hannah (MacLeod) MacKenzie.
Mom stayed at home with her one and only daughter, but she took the stay-at-home Mom to a new level. In earlier years she was a seamstress, making and mending clothes for many. Later she taught herself how to rug hook and make quilts. Mom never did things the easy way. While rug hooking, she would purchase old wool clothing, cut into strips and then dye them the colors she wanted. Tremendous talents. She could also put her hand to carpentry, electrical and crack filling drywall.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Charlene (Chris) Pickles, Coxheath and her wonderful grandchildren, Danielle (Kendell Rudderham), Callum and Arden. Her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren were the light of her life. She spent countless hours with them and has passed on so much to them. She will be sadly missed by her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces, nephews and neighbors.
Besides her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Joe (2010); brothers, Sam, Lloyd and Frank, and sisters, Allie and Kaye.
A special thank you to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital staff in ER, 4C and Palliative Care. Staff in each area went above and beyond to make Mom’s (and ours) stays much more comfortable.
Visitation will be held at TW Curry Parkview Chapel on Mon., April 22, 2019 from 4-7 p.m.
The funeral will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 23 at 11 a.m. at TW Curry Parkview Chapel with Rev. Stephen Mills presiding.
