Mary 'Alice' (Hayes) Jessome

Date de naissance : 10 mai 1941

Date de décès : 8 avril 2019

It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary “Alice” (Hayes) Jessome, 77, Sydney Forks, Cape Breton, on April 8, 2019.
She was, born May 10, 1941, the daughter of the late Mary Emeline (Doyle) Hayes and Roderick Emmett Hayes of Lower River Inhabitants. Our grief is tempered by her faith and our belief that she is with the Lord.
She is survived by her husband, William (Bill) Thomas Jessome; son, Glenn (Jane) Jessome of Halifax; daughters, Laura Lee (James) Campbell of Dartmouth and Sherry Lynn (Allan) Campbell of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Caleigh, Benjamin, Colton, Landon, Chad and Caleb; brother, Daniel Hayes; sisters, Clara Hopper, Winnie (Jim) Mills, Donna Hayes; and sister-in-law, Gloria Hayes.
Predeceased by her parents; her sister, Mary Agnes in infancy; brothers, Sandy Hayes and Roddie J. Hayes; brother-in-law, Arthur Hopper and sisters-in-law, Jean Hayes and Helen Hayes.
Alice began her life time love affair after meeting her partner, Bill, while she was teaching school in Mill Creek. Everyone who knew them had the joy of witnessing a marriage of such love, commitment and devotion that spanned 55 amazing years. Alice and Bill resided in Sydney Forks each winter, but once the weather warmed they could be found at their treasured summer place in Mill Creek. The simple things were enjoyed so much by Alice; like a good bingo game or an escape to the casino with her good friends. Above everything, family was what mattered to Alice, especially her children and grandchildren.
A special thanks to the care teams that supported Alice to leave us on her terms with such dignity and grace, to the An Cala palliative care staff and volunteers and Dr. Carol Critchley. We will be forever grateful.
Visitation for Alice Jessome will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2019 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines.
The funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or, with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating.
A celebration of Alice’s life will be held at the Florence Legion, 610 Bras d'Or - Florence Road, Florence, following the Mass.
Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
