Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family on September 1, 2009 at the Palliative Care Unit, L.A. Miller Centre, Melvin Durnford, aged 68 years. Predeceased by parents Martha Jane and George, parents-in-law Olive and Wallace Crewe; brother-in-law Gordon Crewe. Left to mourn his loving wife and best friend of 45 years Freda; his loving children: Karen (Brian) McIntosh, Maxine (Todd) Ring, Tracy (Robert C.) Lacey and Colin; six grandchildren: Devin, John, Erin, Liam, Ryan, Shannon; brother Roland (June); brother-in-law Walter (Marjorie) and sister-in-law Dulcie (Claude); as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service to take place from St. Augustine's Anglican Church, Westerland Road on Friday at 2 p.m. with cremation to follow.
