The family of the late Elizabeth MacNeil, North Sydney (formerly Sydney Mines), extend sincere thanks to the many friends and relatives who helped comfort us during this very sad time. For your phone calls, flowers, gifts of food, money, sympathy, Mass and enrolment cards, donations to charities and foundations, and to those who attended Mom's wake and funeral, we appreciate every thoughtful gesture. Your words of comfort in person and on social media acknowledged and celebrated Mom’s love of life, her joyfulness, kindness to others, sense of humour and style. These will sustain us during the difficult days ahead.
We would like to thank the Holy Family Parish, Sydney Mines, for their prayer service. To Father J.W. Oliver and Father J.J. MacDonald, the altar servers, eucharistic ministers and choir, our heartfelt thanks for the celebration of Mass. We are grateful to Mom’s dear friends Val Baxendale and Jake Cantwell for bring the gifts to the altar. Mom would have been proud that the honorary pallbearers were her three grandchildren, Bryn, Tristan and Morgan Harmsen. Following Nanny’s wishes, the boys played “To My Mother Dear” on violin and guitar during the Offertory and Alyssa Rockwell honoured Mom’s request to play and sing their special hymn, “Oh Beautiful Star of Bethlehem”. Sincere thanks to the C.W.L. Ladies Auxiliary for catering a lovely lunch after Mass.
Many thanks to Dr. Michele McKeough and Louise for their care and kindness to our family, nurses and staff of 2 West and 4 West, Northside General Hospital for their excellent care, as well as wonderful Palliative Care team and volunteers. To the staff of J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, we appreciate your professional and compassionate service in our time of great loss.
