James 'Jimmy' MacGillivary

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Jimmy MacGillivary at Harbourstone, Wentworth Court surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 25, 2019.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Alex and Alice (Gracie) MacGillivary.
He was employed at Sydney Steel for many years, until his retirement. Jimmy enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing darts.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Deborah (King); his children, Derrick (Natalie), Greg, Kerri (Bobby), and Kelly; his grandchildren, Matthew, Courtney, Ashley, Amy, Darren, Anthony, Craig, Kelsey and Nick; his little precious great grandchildren, Gavin, Charley and Kole. He is also survived by his sisters, Christina (Gerry) Godard and Annie Mae (Rod) MacLean as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Alex and Alice, he was predeceased by his father and mother-in-law, George and Isabel King; sister, Mary Hurley; brother, John MacGillivary.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. B.J. O’Brien and the staff of Harbourstone, Wentworth Court for all their care, love and support given to Jimmy over the past many years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Alzheimer’s Society.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 28, 2019 from 1-3 p.m. at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199) with a reception to follow.
