It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Jerry MacLean, age 88, on Friday, April 26, 2019, at Taigh Solas, Northside General Hospital.
Jerry was born on MacIntosh Mountain, West Bay, NS and grew up in Southside Boularderie.
He worked for many years at H.B. Nickerson and later National Sea Products in North Sydney, as a stationary engineer, but his passion was farming. He worked his land on Southside Boularderie right up until his illness forced him to quit in 2016.
Jerry was a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family. He had a unique sense of humour and a charming personality that left a lasting impression on those he met. He enjoyed his friends and the weekly dances at the Legion.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Heather Dyson, Georgetown, ON; his son, Scott (Nataliya) MacLean, Mississauga, ON; his grandchildren, Brandon (Tanya) Dyson, Denis, Christina, Anton and Stas MacLean; great-grandchildren, Brielle, Riley, Lev and Vladimir.
In keeping with Jerry’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family burial service will take place at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, North Sydney.
