Audrey Blanche STEEVES (Dixon)
At 91 years old she passed away on April 19th, 2019 at Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, NS. Born in Mermaid, PE, she was the daughter of Frederick and Margaret Dixon. She is survived by her three daughters: Susan Bruce and Cynthia Gass of Halifax and Janis Jenkins, Charlottetown, stepson Philip (Kim) Steeves, Toronto, step-daughter Karen Mason, Dartmouth, eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband Raymond Steeves, daughter Cheryl (Jenkins) MacLean, her only son John Jenkins, sister Florence (George) Muttart and brothers Robert (Bob) and Hayden Dixon. She treasured special relationships with her grand-daughter Michelle Bruce and niece Louise MacKenzie. A long time resident of Charlottetown and Brackley Beach, P.E.I., she will be remembered as a former Women’s editor of the Charlottetown Guardian and as general manager of real estate firms in Charlottetown. She was the first female president of the Charlettetown Downtown Business Assoc. and was active in the Zonta Club and Women’s Institute. In retirement she moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Cremation has taken place. At Audrey’s request there was no visitation. A private family burial remembrance service will be conducted at Calvin Presbyterian Church cemetery in Mermaid, PE at a later date.
