Charles Churney

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Charles ‘Charlie’ Alexander Churney on May 5, 2019 at Victoria Haven Nursing Home with his family by his side. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Thomas) Churney.
He was employed as a machinist with Devco for many years until his retirement. He was a true fisherman, who loved the outdoors. He was a master fly tier and loved to go fly fishing.
Charlie is survived by his son, Glenn Churney; his loving wife, Elaine (Campbell) Churney; her children, Fran (Greg) Martin, Michael (Lisa) McMullin and Camille McMullin (Chris Jenkins); his six favourite grandchildren and two precious great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, George (Debbie), Steven (Joanie) and Shauna (Roy) Peach, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Shirley (MacKinnnon), grandson, Christopher Butts; nephew, Bradley Peach.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service as per Charlie’s wishes. The family would like to thank Victoria Haven Nursing Home, his second family for all the care, compassion and love given to Charlie during his stay there.
