Ellen Schaller Gillis
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our wife, mother, sister and friend, Ellen Schaller Gillis, daughter of Thelma Schaller and the late George Schaller, on May 6, 2019,
Ellen’s love for children showed in everything she did. Whether it be her long-time job with Cape Breton Victoria Regional Centre for Education, volunteer at St. Mary’s Church and catechism school for 19 years, or her passion and commitment to her own children and family.
Born on October 16, 1959, she is survived by her loving husband, Eugene; children, Bradley (Lindsay McLean) and Tessa; her brothers and sisters, Colette Schaller Beaton (Ken), George Schaller, Albert Schaller (Debbie), Gordie Schaller (Nancy), Elizabeth Schaller-MacDonald; sister-in-law, Roseanne MacLean; brother-in-law, Bernard Gillis; step mother-in-law, Gloria Gillis and by her many nieces and nephews including her godchildren, Ryan Schaller (Meg) and Christian MacLean.
Ellen was predeceased by her father-in-law, Fraser Gillis and mother-in-law, Theresa Gillis.
Visitation will take place on Friday, May 10 from 7- 9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 11 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, East Bay with Fr. Everett MacDow officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
