We, the family of Joseph 'Joe' MacLeod, of Reserve Mines, would like to announce the end of his great journey on June 28, 2019. Born in MacKay’s Corner, he was the son of the late Roderick and Veronica (McNeil) MacLeod. Joe is survived by his wife of 63 years, Della (Cooke); his children, Mary (Ken Kinzie), Joanne (Joe Whitewood), Fabian, John Joseph and Andrea (Colin Power); brothers, Roderick MacLeod and Joseph Gilmet; grandchildren, Trevor (Lisa) Whitewood, RJ (Hannah), Cheyenne, Angela (Keegan), Renee (Kirk), Abby, Jessie, Katie and Ian; great-grandchildren, Mason, Emily, Lucas and Sophia. He was predeceased by brothers, Alec, John, Wishie, Adrian, Sheldon; sisters, Rita, Lillian, Veronica and Mary Margaret. Joe worked at Municipal Ready Mix as a foreman on the paving crew for 48 years and was an active member of the Reserve Mines Seniors & Pensioners Club. He had many hobbies including darts, woodworking, dancing and gardening. He was a true family man and was there for everyone. His life was truly full, and he will be missed. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at T.J. Tracey Funeral Home, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199). A Funeral Mass will take place 10 a.m. Thursday, July 4, 2019 at St. Joseph's Church, Reserve Mines with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding. Interment to follow in St. Joseph 's cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of one’s choice appreciated. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family by visiting www.tjtracey.com.
