The family of Shirley Elizabeth Dickieson nee MacLennan, wife of the late Donald D. Dickieson wish to announce the passing of their mother on April 26th 2019. Shirley was the first born of JOHN MACLENNAN and MAE SMITH. The oldest of 12 she took her lead of a true leadership with her family, community, Church, and/or work. Her teaching degree was spread over many years starting at the age of 8 for grade one, continued study in Kinkora with the SISTERS, she traveled there on the train daily back again at night to Glen Valley. Then on to UPEI, through many night courses, weekends, and/or summer courses she received one of the highest degrees in teaching at the time of her retirement. After her retirement she threw herself into volunteering for the hospice, ALS, Lions Club international, teaching first aid, women's institute, Church and/or fundraiser for a family in need or just to plan a family party. She loved to travel but mostly for family visits. She loved her drives in the country for picnics and her ice cream and a good cup of tea with a wonderful friend. She is survived by 5 children JOHN (Jack) his wife BARB and their daughter JACLYN. DONALDA TRACY and her husband JERRY and their twin boys JEFFREY (DANIELLE) and their daughters ADALYN, EVERLEE and ISABELLE, and JONATHAN (KRYSTINE) and their son JULIEN. DAVID and his wife BONNIE and their children TYLER (LESLEY) and their son KYLE and BABY D in July, BRODY, CHRIS AND SARA.WAYNE and his children DOUGLAS, ALICIA, AMANDA and JODY (LYNN). ROBERT (MARILYN) and their children JONATHAN (JESSICA) and daughter MADELINE, JASPER, DAVIS, AMANDA (ROB BALDWIN) and their Children SARAH, EAN, EVALINE and AUBREY. Also by siblings Jean (Laken Lewis) Ruth MacLennan, Barbara (Albert Weeks), Lloyd (Annie), Joyce (Wayne Cole), Joan (Cecil Watts), Brenda (David Arsenault), Roy (Helen-deceased), Robert (Betty -deceased), deceased brother BARRY (Gloria McNeil) and deceased brother FREEMAN. Mom is also survived by Flora MacLennan her sister in law. This friendship had no beginning or ending but always had great respect for each other. Mom children wants to thank you Flora for always being there for our Mom and sharing our lifetime friendship only a few people get to experience. She is survived by her aunts Mary Smith, Dorothy Smith and Laura Smith as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mom was predeceased by her husband 1996 Donald Duncan Dickieson and by their son Wade Stanley, and by nephews Kevin MacLennan, Paul Weeks, Ronnie MacLennan, Adam MacLennan and Lesley Weeks. The service to honour Shirley Elizabeth MacLennan Dickinson’s life will be held at Davison Funeral Home Kensington PEI on Saturday July 6th at 3 pm. Visiting hours will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service. Interment in the Hartsville Presbyterian cemetery. Family Flowers only. If so desired contributions may be made to the Hunter River Presbyterian Church or the Hartsville Cemetery. After service ALL are welcome at the Hunter River Lions Club for a light lunch and a country fellowship of stories and memories. www.davisonfh.com
