ROBICHEAU, Evangeline Mary “Eva” – age 108, The Meadows Home for Special Care, Yarmouth, formerly of Trinity Place, Yarmouth, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the Meadows. Born February 12, 1911 in Yarmouth, Eva was a daughter of the late Mandé and Olive Hubbard, and as of her last birthday she was the 22nd oldest person in Canada. In her younger years, she worked at Cosmos Imperial Mills in Yarmouth where she met her future husband. Never one to shy away from new experiences, she went on to attend the University of Waterloo at age 55 after which she worked as a food supervisor at Yarmouth Regional Hospital, from where she eventually retired. She will be remembered as a loving mother who was also a strong example to her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Aside from having a great sense of humour, she was a fantastic cook, a seamstress and was steadfast in her Catholic faith until the end. She was spoken-of fondly by all who knew her, especially at The Meadows and at Trinity Place, where she was known to take care of all of the residents. She was also a member of the CWL (St. Ambrose Council). She is survived by her three children, Richard (Agnes) Robicheau, Yarmouth; George (Freda) Robicheau, Lower Sackville and Kay (Stanley) Wight, Dartmouth, as well as by 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Frank Alfred Robicheau and by several brothers and sisters. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday with prayers at 8 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. The funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 2 from Saint Ambrose Co-Cathedral in Yarmouth, Father Pat O’Meara officiated. Interment followed in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation or to the CWL. The family would like to thank the staff at The Meadows for the wonderful care and compassion they showed Eva and her family over the years, as well as to her daughter-in-law Agnes and her granddaughter Cindy for their particular devotion to Eva – your kindness will never be forgotten.
