Our dear mother Velma MacKay (nee Buell) passed away peacefully at the Prince Edward Home on July 3, 2019. She was 89 years old. She was predeceased by her husband Stuart MacKay of Bunbury, and by her parents Chesley (Chet) and Florence Buell and brothers Floyd and Laudas. She loved her children Sheryl MacKay (Michael Murray) and Greg MacKay (Ellen MacPhail); and her grandchildren Arianna (James MacDonald), Alexander (Jenna Andersen), and Sebastian Ardenne. We are so grateful to the staff of the Prince Edward Home and also the Garden Home for their support and care. The team from Lady Slipper Path at the Prince Edward Home are now like extended family. Mom loved to laugh and she kept her sense of humour until the end. She enjoyed a house filled with friends and family. She was ever curious, an avid reader, an artist, a lover of classical music, a talented pianist and a fantastic cook. She was known for her amazing squares, her handstitched quilts and her love of painting the house, inside and out! She attended Prince St. School, Prince of Wales College and worked for many years at Sears in Charlottetown. Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home.
