Margaret Ellen

Age 82, of Bridgewater N.S. formerly of Truro, N.S. passed away peacefully, after a brief illness in South Shore Regional Hospital on July 25, 2019. Born in Verdun, Quebec on July 29, 1936 she was a daughter of the late Violet (Leaman) and Norman McLean. Margaret was a member and faithful attendee of Bridgewater Baptist Church. Although Marg worked in many places during her working years, first and foremost she was a wife, mother and homemaker. She took great pride in her home and in her later years, when she needed a housekeeper, she would always pre-clean. It was a rare sight to see Marg without her knitting needles in her hands, either in the house or sitting beside Tom in the car. Besides knitting, she loved to read and spend time with her family. In quiet times, Marg enjoyed listening to spiritual gospel music. Marg was a great friend to all she knew and would cook for anyone who needed a special meal. She was loved by all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed by both family and friends. Marg is survived by her children, Wendy, (Truro), Heather (Kevin) (Lunenburg), Beverley (Philip) (Riverport) and Thomas (Lisa), (Pueblo, Colorado); grandchildren, Susanne, Christopher, Darrell, Katie, Kenneth, Kellie, Kori, Jeffrey, and Thomas as well as many great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Thomas; second husband, Ashton (Peter) Hardy; brothers, Norman and Stan; sisters, Cora and Norma and step brother and sister, George and Helen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation or charity of choice. Marg’s family would like to thank the staff at SSRH for such wonderful and compassionate care while she was there. Thanks also to the Colchester Community Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 12th at 1p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 2 pm with Pastor Ruth Tonn officiating, followed by a reception, all in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. Interment will take place in Crossroads Cemetery, Valley.
