Alma Groth, age 80 years, of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and formerly of Shaunavon and Admiral, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital. She was born in the Hodgeville, Saskatchewan district on January 14, 1931. She was the youngest of seven children born to John and Rose Gehl, and was raised and received her education in the Hodgeville district. She loved animals and one of her favorite things was riding her horse to school. She married Jake Groth at Shamrock on October 8, 1954. The lived at Dendurn, McMahon, Orkney and Admiral, where she worked at the Co-op store. Following her husband’s passing, Alma moved to Shaunavon in November of 1983. She moved to Moose Jaw in the summer of 1996. She was a member of the Order of the Royal Purple both in Shaunavon and Moose Jaw, just having received her 25 year pin. She enjoyed travelling with family and friends. She loved doing hand work, especially crocheting and hooking rugs. She was predeceased by her husband Jake on October 9, 1983, one daughter Carol in 1963 and by three brothers, John, Joe and Alex. She is survived by two sons Howard (Sharon) of Frontier, Wayne (Lorie) of Edmonton, grandchildren Micah, Kolby (fiancée Jhalene Vasseur), Kari, Spencer, Lisa, Richard, Daniel and Amy, her sisters, Rose Ager of Assiniboia and Helen SCheller of Vanguard, her brother Peter Gehl of Hodgeville as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. from the Admiral Community Hall in Admiral with Pastor Manfred Kurschner officiating. Tributes were presented by her sons Howard Groth and Wayne Groth. Interment took place at Admiral Cemetery at Admiral.
