KENNEDY, MARY EVELYN - Born May 23, 1923 - Woodstock New Brunswick - With sad hearts we announce the passing of Evelyn Kennedy, at North York Hospital, Toronto on Thursday, June 16, 2011, in her 89th year. Predeceased by her husband, L. Vincent Kennedy, her parents Katherine Whalen and Jeremiah Gallagher and brother Francis Gallagher. Survived by her brother Dr. Edward J (Mary) Gallagher, Fairfax VA, USA. her sisters Marjorie Gallagher, Toronto, Mary (Harvey) Zwicker, Nepean, Ontario, and brother Robert (Audrey) Gallagher, Kingsview, Ontario. Evelyn maintained contact with her siblings, array of friends and her 17 nieces and nephews and their families-her particular pride and joy. Ryan and Ritchie were also very special to her. Originally a one-room rural N.B. School teacher, Evelyn became a Royal Banker which she served for some 42 years. (Woodstock N.B. and Toronto), until her retirement. Evelyn’s love of the Lord and her faith inspired many and until 2009 dementia, was a devoted assistant and lector at St. Michael’s Cathedral, Toronto, (Daily TV Masses) and the St. Stephen’s Chapel. A life long member of the Catholic Women’s League. Friends may call at the Murray E. Newbigging Funeral Home, 733 Mt. Pleasant Rd. (South of Eglinton) on Monday, June 20, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Monica’s Church, 44 Broadway Ave. (near Yonge Street) on Tuesday at 10:30 am. Interment beside her husband in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Kingston, Ontario on Wednesday at 12:00 pm.
