RUSSELL, JOHN E. - 1922-2011 - Miramichi - John Ernest Russell, of the Eastside Special Care Home, and formerly of Point Aux Carr Road, Napan, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Thursday afternoon, June 16, 2011, at the age of 89. Born in Point Aux Carr, on April 18, 1922, he was the son of the late Eldred and Maude E. (Taylor) Russell. He was a retired crane operator, employed with Diamond Construction Ltd. as well as a fisherman. He was a member of Carmel United Church, Napan.
He is survived by three daughters, Sheila Thornhill (Rex), of Baton Rouge, Louisana, USA, Sharon Russell, of Atlantic Beach, Florida, USA, Gwen Dasher, of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, USA; three sons, Mervyn Russell (Theresa), of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, USA, Keith Russell, of Point Aux Carr, Kevin Russell, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, USA; his best friend and long time companion, Lois Grady, of Blackville; one sister, Norma Watling, of Moncton; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchild; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Jessie MacDonald; one grandchild, Jenna Olivia Thornhill.
Visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King Street, Miramichi, on Tuesday, from
2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held from Carmel United Church, on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at 2 pm, conducted by Penny Postlethwaite. Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to any charity of the donors' choice, would be appreciated by the family.
