The death occurred at the Wedgewood Manor, Summerside, on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, of Jean Stewart of Summerside, aged 83 years. Born in Athol, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Martin and Catherine (Dowe) Gilroy. Loving wife of the late Spurgeon Stewart. She is survived by her children, Ernest (Linda), Amherst, N.S.; Harvey, Summerside; Hartsford, Summerside; Terry, Toronto, Ont.; Sheila (Jeff) Roberts, Peterborough, Ont.; grandsons Jordan, Jason, Jimmy and Danny; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Ralph, Gordon, John, Lloyd and Lester Gilroy; sisters, Ann Nelson, Doris Paugh, Ethel Porter, Mary Porter, Marjorie Gjaletama, Betty Ross and Eleanor Sutherland. Predeceased by her brother Raymond Gilroy. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, until Saturday, then to the Summerside Church of the Nazarene for funeral service at 10 a.m. Interment in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Valley. Visiting hours Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations to the Parkinson’s Society or to Community Connections would be appreciated.
