The death of Ralph "Boob" Merritt, age 89, of Springhill occurred peacefully at the High Crest Nursing Home on Saturday, June 25, 2011. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the Late Annie Mae Merritt.
As a young man Ralph worked at Fred Gough's Ice Cream Parlour and Gas Bar. Ralph will be remembered for his years of service as custodian at the Springhill Elementary and High Schools. He was a member of area Golf and Curling Clubs. A member of St. John the Baptist Church, he was formerly active in the K of C.
Ralph enjoyed outings at his camp at Economy Lake.
Ralph's remains have been cremated under the direction of the A H. Brown Funeral Services, Springhill (597-2361). A memorial service will be held at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Springhill on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 11 am. Burial in the parish cemetery. www.brownfuneralhome.com
