It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Louis Crews of Czar, Alta., on Sunday, June 19, 2011.
Lou was born in Bras d’Or, N.S., on May 10, 1927, son of the late Elsie and Alexander Crews.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, hunting and camping. His favourite times were spent on the lake and around the campfire, surrounded by friends.
He joined the army as a boy soldier in 1944 and was a member of the RCEME for 38 years. Lou received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the War Medal 1935-45, the United Nations Emergency Force Medal-Middle East, the Peacekeeping Medal and Canadian Forces Decoration and Clasps.
He was very community-minded and volunteered with many organizations, always ready to lend a hand.
Lou will be greatly missed by his daughter and granddaughter, Tracey and Denise Lacroix, Red Deer; his son, Terry Crews, Innisfail; his daughter, Kelly Faulkner (Jim), Moncton and grandson, Craig; his son, Skip Crews (Brenda), Calgary and grandchildren, Tyrell, Kasey and Trevor. He will be dearly missed by his brothers, Russell, North Sydney, N.S., Gordon (Irene), Thorold, Ont.; and his sister, Shirley Whitman (Bob), Toronto, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Gwendolyn (Teddy), his brothers, Alex, George and William and his sisters, Emma, Sue, Martha and Myra.
