Beloved Mother, Helen Leona MacDonald, passed away on Sept. 14, 2009, surrounded by her family. Helen was born in Sydney, N.S. one of 10 children. She graduated from St. Francis Xavier University and was a devoted teacher with the Cape Breton-Victoria District School Board.
Helen is survived by her children, Sean (Nancy) Moore, Toronto; Kevin (Kathy) Moore, Calgary; Sheilagh (Troy) Moore-Wilcox, Edmonton and Kathy (John) Mitchell, Winnipeg.
A loving grandmother, Helen spent many hours of fun and mischief with her grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Megan (Justin), Sean, Michael, Colton, Nico, Nabil and Jennifer. Her last hours were spent in the comforting presence of Megan.
Helen is also survived by her mother, Helen (Michael) Fennell, Sydney; and siblings, Connie (Lloyd) Hope, New York; Ronald Fennell, Sydney; Michael (Lorraine) Fennell, Sydney; Sheila Fennell, Toronto; Margaret Fennell, Toronto; Theresa Fennell, Toronto; Mary (Michael) McClosky; Joyce (Chris) Avent, Minnesota; Tom (Tina) Fennell, Corner Brook.
She was predeceased by her father, Michael Fennell.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Every Woman’s Centre in Sydney, N.S. or in recognition of her love of her favourite “grand puppies†Yogi, Rico, Phoebe and KC – to your favourite pet related charity.
At Helen’s request there will be no funeral and a living memorial was held with her family prior to her passing. Cremation has taken place in Edmonton, Alta.
