ERKKI SIMOLA
1942 – 2009
Erkki Kalevi Simola passed away peacefully at home on September 14, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Helsinki, Finland on July 19, 1942, and was the eldest of three children. He immigrated to Canada with two friends in 1964. He worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for the City of Prince Albert until his retirement in 1993. Erkki then started Databridges, a computer/consulting company. In 1966, Erkki met Twyla at a street dance. They were married in 1969 and spent 40 years exploring what life had to offer. They had one daughter, Tiffany who was born in 1985. As a family they enjoyed traveling, attending concerts and spending time with family and friends. Erkki will always be remembered for his sharp wit, humor and never-ending repertoire of stories. He will also be remembered for his incredible gift of being able to fix anything and was always willing to pass on his expertise. He loved tinkering with his old Porsche, his new cars and he especially loved the varying complexities of maintaining his motor home. Erkki is survived by his wife Twyla; his daughter Tiffany of Toronto; his mother Kerttu; his brother Seppo (Benita) of Helsinki, Finland; his sister Mari (Pentti) of Rovaniemi, Finland. He is also survived by his sister and brothers-in-law Tanny Swenson (Felipe Maya) of Prince Albert, Tim Feusi (Heather Carruthers) of Moose Jaw, Dwight (Gail) Reynoldson, Adrian (Margaret) Reynoldson, Jack (Leslie) Reynoldson and Colleen Reynoldson of Merritt, BC, Joy (Rick) Wile of Kamloops, BC and Rondel Reynoldson of Vancouver, BC as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Erkki was predeceased by his father Erkki of Helsinki, Finland; his mother and father-in-law Arnold & Sally Feusi of Prince Albert and Del & Ron Reynoldson of Merritt, BC; his brother Juhani of Helsinki, Finland; his sister-in-law Ronalda of La Ronge, SK and his brother-in-law Lorne of Merritt, BC. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 19 from River Park Memorial Chapel. Pastor Dan Haugen will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Children’s Haven or the Prince Albert Multicultural Society. Interment of cremated remains will take place in Finland at a later date.
