It is with great sadness, we the family, regret to announce the passing of Jackie on Wednesday Sept. 16, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with his loving family surrounding him.
Born in Dingwall, Jackie was the son of the late George and Margaret (Fitzgerald) Morrison.
He worked as a fisherman until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Jackie is survived , by his wife, Peggy (Vassallo); his daughters, Joanne McEvoy (Stephen), Betty Lou Hall (Jamie); sons, John (Florence), Karl (Angie). He is also survived by his brothers, Freeman (Anne Marie), Francis; sisters, Betty Lou (Claude), Alice (Bill), Margie and Freda; as well as his pride and joy, his 13 grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Nelson.
There will be a private family visitation Friday, Sept. 18 from 7-9 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, Dingwall. Funeral mass will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19 at St. Joseph’s Church with Fr. Dan MacDonald officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
