Effie Brown

Effie Louise (Mitchell) Brown 80 years of Springhill, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2011 in All Saints Hospital, Springhill. Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the Late Richard C. and Tina (Vance) Mitchell.
She was educated in the Springhill School system and was a member of St. Andrews Wesley United Church, Springhill and UCW. Effie was a strong, hard working woman, who dedicated her entire life to her home and family. Besides spending time with family and friends, she enjoyed quilting and rug hooking and was an excellent cook.
She will be sadly missed by her husband Winfield H. Brown; sons, Arthur Richard Hall (Virginia) Brown, Williamsdale, Cumb. Co., and H. David (Lena) Brown of Amherst; brothers, John (Angela) Mitchell, Springhill, Jordan "Hookie" (Brenda) Mitchell, Nappan and Kenneth (Peggy) Mitchell, Attleboro, Mass; sisters, Margaret Dow, Maccan and Elizabeth Choisnet, Springhill; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great great grandson; brother in law, Al Bowman, Halifax and sister in law, Mary Ann Mitchell; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brothers, Alex in infancy and George "Chick"; sisters, Lois in infancy and Esther; sister in law, Judy Mitchell.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361) where visitation will be held 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 Saturday, July 16, 2011. Funeral service will be held Sunday, July 17, 2011 from the Funeral Home with The Reverend Wayne McCarther officiating. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill.
If so desired, donations in Effie's memory may be made to a The ALS Society; The Hillside Cemetery Company or to a charity of choice.
