STELLARTON – Donald Dunbar Cameron, age 84, of Kensington Ave., Stellarton, passed away on Friday July 15th, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Willard and Margaret (Gordon) Cameron.
Donnie was a resident of Stellarton since 1963.
He was a member of Sharon St. John United Church where he was a member of the choir, an honorary Elder and a member of the Session. Donnie also taught Sunday School for a number of years.
During his working career he worked for the CNR as a driver with 42 years service retiring in 1990.
Donnie was a member of Western Star Masonic Lodge #50 Westville, receiving his 50 year jewel and was also a member of the Scottish Rite.
For many years Donnie was known for delivering ice in Pictou County.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mae MacDonald; sons: Paul (Jane), Vancouver; Mark (Tryphena), Westville; Fraser (Wendy), Saudi Arabia; grandchildren: Alex, Megan, Ian, Luke, Holly and Duncan; brother, Willard “Bill”, PEI; sisters: Lois Lyons, Halifax; Jean (Gerald) Horne, Lorne; sisters-in-law, Jean Cameron, Stellarton; Dee Cameron, California; a number of nieces and nephews.
Donnie was predeceased by children, Donald and Jennifer; brothers, Jimmy and Gordon; step-sisters, Allena Kennedy and Doris Munro; stepbrothers, Bruce and Edmund Crockett.
His remains will rest in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton, for visitation from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. from Sharon St. John United Church with Rev. John Roy officiating. Burial will be in MacLellan’s Mtn. Cemetery.
