STELLARTON - Cecilia N. Adamson, 80, of Stellarton, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, September 19, 2009, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Berwick, Kings County, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Bessie (Cox) Saunders.
Cecilia was a resident of Stellarton all of her married life. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Glace Bay General Hospital in 1953 and worked as an RN in Kentville, Truro and New Glasgow until her retirement. She was a member of Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton and the United Church Women.
Cecilia is survived by her children John (Sherry), New Glasgow; Doug (Heather), Halifax; Vesta (Kevin) Mason, Winnipeg; grandchildren: Marc and Luke Adamson; Adam, Andrew and Emily, Mason; great-granddaughter, Grace Cullen; brothers, Edmund Saunders, Windsor; Douglas (Evelyn) Saunders, Berwick; sisters, Amanda (Paul) Whitman, Berwick; Emily Beaton, Victoria, B.C.
She was predeceased by her husband, Weldon Adamson; brother, Guilford; sisters, Eva and Margaret.
After the passing of her husband in 2004, Cecilia moved from the family home to Stellar Place in Stellarton where she enjoyed many happy hours with all of her special friends. Cecilia enjoyed crafts, reading, music, and travelling. However, her greatest joy was time spent with her family.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 22nd in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Funeral service will be held from Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23rd with Rev. John Roy officiating.
Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery. Family flowers only.
